    Abara will appreciate whatever donations you can make. Small donations can go a long way. We appreciate your generosity and partnership with those in need in the borderlands.

  • The end of the calendar year is a time when many people make charitable gifts and take advantage of the tax benefits for doing so.* A gift before December 31 can be beneficial by reducing your income taxes while providing meaningful support for Abara.

    Members of the organization’s fund development staff will be in the office during the holidays to answer questions about making a gift before 2025 ends.

  • Abara offices are closed for the end of year and all cash and checks gifts must be received by Friday, December 19, 2025, with the exception of postmarked checks by December 31, 2025.

  • If received in U.S. mail it must be postmarked December 31, 2024. If received hand-delivered, or phoned in, gifts must be received by the Abara by Friday, December 23, 2024, at 1:00 pm MST on to be processed. Online gifts must be completed by 11:59 pm MST on Thursday, December 31, 2024.

  • Physical hand deliveries must be received by the Abara staff by Friday, December 19, 2025, at 1:00 pm MST. Securities must be in the account for the Abara account before the close of business on Wednesday, December 31, 2025. Donors should be careful to give their brokers time to complete the transaction. This usually requires a minimum of 3 business days but may take longer if volumes are high.

    The donor should be sure to notify Abara of their intention to deliver securities so that the donation may be identified and recorded promptly. Failure to notify may result in a delay. Please call for stock/securities transfer instructions.

    Securities sent to Abara by private carrier (i.e. Federal Express, UPS, etc.) must be received by Abara staff by Friday, December 19, 2025, at 1:00 pm MST. Review USPS delivery expectations regarding 1st class mail, etc.

  • Gift receipts will be sent within 15 days from the date the gift was processed, except in times of high volume where longer processing time occurs. Receipts will reflect the date the gift was received.

    Donors should consult with their CPA or tax preparer to determine the tax consequences of their donation.

    Abara, Inc. is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization and your donation is tax-deductible within the guidelines of U.S. law.

    To claim a donation as a deduction on your U.S. taxes, please keep your email donation receipt as your official record.

    If you’re making a Year-End Gift, Abara staff will be back at work on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.

  • You fund a DAF and make charitable gift recommendations during your lifetime. When you pass away, your children can carry on your legacy of giving.

  • If you’re 70 1/2 years old or older, you may be able to make a tax-free charitable contribution from your IRA account to a 501c3 organization such as Abara | Borderland Connections.. Tax-deductible receipts for stock and mutual fund gifts are provided via Stock Donator whose account is held at Fidelity Investments.

  • A qualified charitable distribution, or QCD, might be the answer for you – but watch those rules. Read in Kiplinger

  • Check and see if your company has a matching gifts program. If you are affiliated with a company that matches contributions to non-profit organizations, your gift to Abara | Borderland Connections may be matched, doubled, or — in some instances — more than doubled. If your employer offers such a program, you can multiply the power of your gift by sending us your firm’s completed matching gift form along with your contribution.

  • A gift to Abara | Borderland Connections can take many forms, ranging from a cash bequest to a share of your estate. Donate to a specific program that especially interests you, or consider a grant where most needed to serve as a memorial to yourself, your family, or to honor a loved one.

  • Giving through an estate gift provides Abara | Borderland Connections a lifetime gift. Gifts can be made by including Abara to an existing will. This method of giving may reduce the federal estate tax liability for your heirs*.

  • A Charitable Remainder Trust allows you to receive annually either a fixed amount or a percentage of the trust assets as valued annually. You would create your own trust to which you irrevocably transfer money or securities or both. You provide that after your lifetime, the remaining trust principal will be distributed to Abara | Borderland Connections.

  • Charitable gift annuities (CGA), a life income gift, are win-win investment options for donors. Through a CGA, you receive an immediate charitable income tax deduction, as well as an annuity payment over the remainder of your life.

  • You may name Abara | Borderland Connections as a beneficiary in your Life insurance policy.

  • Under some circumstances, real estate can be donated to Abara | Borderland Connections or designated through your will.
